The Square K Journals 05:  Your Green PLACE Exhibition

As a conclusion to 2022’s Green PLACE Project work, there will be a Your Green PLACE exhibition opening on Saturday 28th January at Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, Carlisle. It will feature a collection of photos, videos and artwork from artists and several community groups thereby showcasing the inspiration of the project, and learnings gained from it, to connect people with nature, engage with the environment, and improve their own wellbeing while doing so.

I am delighted to be part of this exhibition as a result of my involvement with the Green PLACE Project, through my photographic concept and venture MySqK. The exhibition will highlight some of the key principles behind MySqK by using photographs and quotes from the book which I have been assembling to encapsulate the essence of MySqK. It is the result of my 6 yearlong commitment to photographing within just one specific square kilometre of local landscape on the doorstep of my home in Cumbria. Essays describe my thoughts, experiences, and process as I move through the months and seasons over an extended period of time. The resulting photographs, built on inspiration from repeated visits to my ‘square’, form a personal portrait of a personal landscape. The book is currently going through some final editing with a view to being published later this year or perhaps next year. Watch this space!

I do hope you can find time to visit the exhibition and most importantly gain some inspiration from it to explore your own green space.
